Default Grand Floridian...What could make you buy?

Now that Disney has made the Villas at Grand Floridian a reality, what would make you buy at the next DVC resort?

Would you buy just for the location? What features do you expect or want, that will do it for you? Do you expect a SAB type pool? How about a cool lounge feel, like the Hotel with a bar? What if it came with a 20% dining discount for VGF owners?

What would make you buy at the resort?

I am assuming that the starting price point is at the very least the same as the BLT ($140???).

Personally, to bridge that price gap, i would require quiet a few new amenities / perks.

For starters, perhaps a written / contract guarantee that the maintenance fees won't increase by more than 3% (or perhaps tie it to CPI) annually.

What about a a few fast passes per person for each day of your stay?

Priority dining reservations at the GF?

Nothing would make me buy.

I had the same amount of disinterest in BLT and I've yet to even stay there.

Using someone else's money, I will stick with my SSR and OKW points that work great at any resort....

IDK, I guess that depends upon how flexible you are. I find I need to use my BLT points the majority of the time to get what I want. I have had some success with waitlists, but overall I need to book well before the 7 mo. window opens. Of course, I do have to deal with school schedules so that does limit us.

I'm sure we'll be able to book GF somewhere along the way, but if it were to be our preferred resort I'm thinking we would need to own there.

free park passes for familly?

free dining on each trip?

Big things like that.

I would like to stay there, but at the prices I am expecting, I cant imagine buying. certainly not retail.

I am thinking the buy in price won't be any more than BLT, but I think the amount of points to stay there will be much higher. I personally don't have an interest in buying there. I may choose to stay there, but Im not even sure about that. Now, if it were the Poly...........thats a different story.

For me, I would like to buy there for the location itself. I like being close to the MK for some of our trips, so that would be awesome (as we can't stand BLT - sold our points that we had there). As long as they don't "cheap-out" when building the GFV, we will definitely be buying there. Can't wait to see it when it is done!

Methinks that GFV is probably going to be 225-300 pp

If you have been there there is a whole different crowd in the lobby. Tennis whites and all that. The points per night will probably also be high. Remember the GF has suites which rent for $15,000/Night.

All the villas at GF are probably going to be concierge villas and priced accordingly.

I think this is going to be a whole new 'Premium' DVC and buying in is going to depend upon what's offered. I would not be surprised if current DVC points were either not accepted or had something like a 2-1 trade. i.e. a GF point is worth 2 regular points.

This is also probably where DVC will offer perks depending on membership level. Was talking with my guide and guide noted that this IS coming the question is what will the perk breakdown be and also that the break between regular and premium will probably be 500 points or so. If this is the case I would not be suprised if a Diamond tier is created as well for those at 3000 points or so (this will make Daddio and Greenban very happy). Remember the limit is 6000 points per person.
