I can't believe it was over three years ago I started this thread and it's still going...

Keep pulling those kids outta school everybody!

Update: I am now 100% homeschooling, so we work our schooling around Disney trips. Yep, we may spend President's Day actually learning about the presidents in school (what a concept!), but when September comes you'll find us passing all the school buses on the road to meet up with our beloved Mouse!

( <--- what we do when we pass school buses on the way to Disney )

Can you homeschool my kids too? I'll pick them up in September on our way to Disney?

I home schooled for years, and it was a wonderful experience. Have fun and believe in yourself and your children.

Oh, sure. I tutor too... $30/hour - so for full time schooling, depending on the ages of the children, that would be $120-180/day, or $600-$900/wk. Rates are per child. Room and board extra. I accept payment in cash or Disney gift cards.

I'm right there too- We take our three kids out of school each year for extended disney trips - this year is a 10 day stay, Missing 7 days of school.
Isn't what you learn in life and Disney worth so much more than you could ever learn in a classroom?!!

I suspect that many of us will discover that it wont be the school work that will keep us from taking the kids, but all their extra curricular activities, especially if they are serious about sports.

Ok... I will admit that it is merely in jest that I put this thread in this "Guests Behaving Badly" Category... truth is, with less crowds, less costs... why wouldn't someone pull their kids out of school? (This is a former teacher writing this post, btw.)

So fess up... who here has ever pulled the kids out of school to go to Disney World? Get any flack from school? Or did were they glad your kids were gone?! Ha!
The tricky part about this is that SOME people don't think anything of pulling their kids out of school b/c of crowds and can take vacations when they want to, but teachers get the stank eye for doing the same thing (as I am sure the teacher you know did). Unfortunately, teachers typically have to fly and travel during the busiest and priciest times of the year.

Which is really too bad because it should be the norm to allow the use of subs when needed. If there was a minimum nitice given I say give them the time. They certainly would have to if their was an illness in the family rather than a vacation.
