I'm there with you. We did take MF fees into account when deciding between a couple resorts. I've never stayed at a value and don't have an interest. In fact I haven't stayed at a mod either but did price it out for a possible short stay to save points. We had been staying at WL when we took the tour and later decided to purchase. But we are probably not in the majority in regards to never have stayed at a value or mod.
With all due respect, Sue... They've already got you! If DVC2 were to ever come about, it would be about enlarging their audience. The biggest available audience would be people who can't afford to drop $20K on DVC, but still like to visit WDW annually.

And they are running out of places to build regular DVC resorts.

There is plenty of space for values, because they don't require a premium location.

I wonder if lessons learned from the new AoA resort will be parlayed into a DVC2 value category. They have it categorized as a Value plus, but the rates are more like the high end of Moderates.

I don't really see a DVC2 for super deluxe resorts, but a DVC2 for values would make sense.

Just now seeing the thread. My thought is that if we were going to see a "DVC2" it would have happened already.

Instead, I expect will see more of a blended approach where point inflation at the new resorts effectively creates a tiered structure, but all points remain fungible.

I have not objection to the such a system, as it seems much more likely to reflect actual demand rather (points are almost akin to cash) than some artificial demarcation between class 1 and class 2.

And from DVC sales perspective this is an appeal paradigm to pitch to new, direct purchasers -- as long as the next new resort justifies the premium.

But what happens to new sales when the latest product is viewed by most consumers to be inferior to the existing products? Fast forward 10 years and GF and Poly DVC's have been built. Will DVC be able to demand more points per night for River Country DVC or the California-themed DVC that don't have direct access to parks? Will they need a 5th gate to continue to demand ever increasing accomodation premiums from both DVC and CRO visitors?

How long have you been waiting for an opportunity to use "fungible"?

I think this is absolutely possible, even with a "value DVC" resort. Maybe 5-6 pts for an off-season weeknight in a studio. Effectively, you get the same result as a DVC2. We've already seen it on BLT. I expect we'll see more on VGF. I'm hoping we see some more value options after that, so that my measley 120 pts will actually go a lot farther.

I don't think they will try to compete Poly-DVC with VGF, so maybe River Country will come first and be cheaper.

Of course, I could be underestimating how many uber-rich folks there are out there, and they may just keep building pricey options. I've been wrong before.
