Kidani has its own check in desk, as others have said. I strongly prefer a near-lobby room at Kidani. Much like Boardwalk, those halls can stretch on forever. Plus, the soda refills are right there off the lobby if that is a consideration.

I second the near lobby. I've gotten a room way down the hall and it seems like forever to get there... especially after a long day at the parks!

And if you do get assigned a room at the furthest end, see if they can change it to the otherside of the resort. At least you will be a short walk away from Jambo House.

Call back of house and talk to the room assigner 10-14 days out to make your request.

Did you call 10-14 days out to make your request?

The online request function I find to be near useless.

How do you find the numbers for this for resorts? Are they on the DVC web page, I always understood the numbers shown were often for a call centre somewhere.

We always request near the lobby.

We've stayed twice in Rafiki and once on the other side of the lobby. I can't remember the name of that section. But our room was next to the elevator that comes out near the bus stop. Which was very convenient.

We love those 2BD's. Very spacious and the extra bath is wonderful.

Kidani is great.
Request something near an elevator if you don't like walking.
Very long halls. Consider that it wraps around a refuge for the animals. Big.
We have never minded the long halls and in fact, we like being farther away.
We have never had a bad view, even when we didn't request a Savana view. Sometimes we overlooked holding areas of the mending or challenged animals. Very cool to see how Disney rescues and gives them a home.

Of course you could also look over the parking lot, with out a special request, but we never have.
You will enjoy!

I will definitely give them a call, but thanks for the suggestions. Kids are super excited about staying with the animals!
