Default AP Renewal question

We have platinum plus APs that expire in July. If we renew our passes, do they have to renew as platinum plus or can we renew them as a different category of AP like gold or regular platinum?

I’m guessing no, but I thought I’d check with the experts.

You can get the renewal rate for any annual pass you choose.

Most likely you will need to call MS to renew.

^ This. I tried several times to "downgrade" my renewal and online it wouldn't work. Even the first go around with MS did I have to tell the lovely person that was not the correct price for my downgraded renewal. She had to actually go to the member site (she was one) to see what I was saying. The second pass I renewed with her went quicker but then realized she renewed my 8 yo for a 10+ which then because an issue in MDE and took a call to Disney. So just be mindful when you do it.

Not just most likely, but it's required to call MS for renewals. Only new purchases for DVC can be done online.

Separate renewal question, but figure keep it all in one place:

We expire 9/16. We are next at WDW 10/17. 31 days. We would ideally like to buy UT tickets and then bridge to gate price on a renewal. Renewal window is listed as up to 30 days after.

Is there any flexibility on this, or is it a hard-and-fast rule?

Cheers.
