All these programs are is an hour (or 2) long commercial. Fitting that this one ended with the hosts gifting each other the new purple ears that came out in parks today.

You mean people were watching for reasons beside the Star Wars preview???

We've never watched a Christmas special in the past ,but had this one on for a little while in the background. Nice to get a little Disney magic, but when we went to watch later, we just fast forwarded to the SW stuff.....which looks awesome!!

We watched it...thankfully was DVR'd...and we played catch up to Live. The parade seemed to be only in California, and it was scattered throughout the show. Not what we were hoping to see. So, to see the Christmas parade, Youtube on the TV was the answer!

The SW rides were interesting, and DW said, thats it? So, basically Mission Space and something new? lol I was like, its about the atmosphere and the immersion! We will see if I will be able to convince her to go as soon as they announce opening dates!

Agree. Was hoping for something different. Same format, same performers... Did like seeing a little more about Star Wars.

We went to youtube and watched after as others mentioned.

We were at MK one year where they were filming the Thanksgiving show, much is which is done quite a bit in advance (example: https://attractionsmagazine.com/disn...-disney-world/)

I don't think it is so much that it is staged, I think the issue is that people don't realize when it is happening and don't come in appropriate clothes for the event. My daughter could have went "inside the rope" to join the filming but chickened out.

It did look like a rehash of the previous years. You would really tell the audience is staged. Where are the children?

They do have that. It was made first, before the Halloween version. Google Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic and you'll find it.

Agreed. The last good one was the one hosted by NPH (2012?). My kids still enjoy watching his opening number from that one.

I don't know that I've watched it all since the Regis Philbin hosting days. I've checked it out once or twice but it was so much more contrived. I sadly had to break it to my niece this year that what they show isn't live on Christmas day since when we were there they were filming on of the performances at Epcot. She was very sad.

I also had heard how this year the parade sequences were only going to be from DL and that they were not using any general public for audience like they had in the past. Just more staging and choreography.

I did not tape the show this year, and I may have missed it, but was Santa shown at all this year?
