Default Week of 5/5/19 availability- what am I missing?

We're planning a trip the week of 5/5/19 and have been keeping an eye on the availability for a while. It seems like the weeks before and the weeks after are completely open, but that particular week is very scarce for studios. Only thing fully open for our dates is Poly, BLT, OKW, SSR, and Kidani. Not too bad as we usually like the Poly anyway. But we feel like we're missing something that's going on that week. The only thing we can think of is Star Wars related stuff (May the 4th). And we know the Summit cheer competition is going on...although we're doubting that would affect DVC bookings. Could just be another case of point rentals taking up availability. Just think its odd for only that week to be missing days.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate any thoughts!

Thanks!!

5 resorts still open for the full week seems like a good amount to choose from at 9 months out.

Availability seems to be much tighter this year. It’s been steadily getting tighter, but this year seems particularly bad. I suspect there aren’t as many “extra” points floating around in the system from new resort (inventory declared but not yet sold) as what we have been used to.
FWIW Mother’s Day is May 12 so that might also add to the more limited availability for your specific week.

we booked that week as we have for the past 3 years so it's anybody's guess.

It's May. That is par for the course. I'm surprised BWV isn't open too.

My mistake... BWV is actually available also. We are overall happy with our choices. Really only missing a few resorts & we prefer Poly anyway. I guess my main concern was if we were missing something big.. Something that will bring lot of extra crowds that week. All the weeks surrounding are fully open.. We couldn’t think of anything special. So is May just a busy time for DVC members? We’ve only been members for 3 years... still new to the trends.

Flower and garden plus mothers day as well as lower points after spring break.
Who doesn't love Disney after winter?
