Default Disney wins property tax lawsuit

DVCNews reported that Disney just won one lawsuit on changes in property value assessment back in 2015.

There were two points that stood out:
- Orange County had changed how properties were assessed to include ancillary income streams such as food & beverage & merchandise sales. Yacht & Beach Club Resort has the property value jump from a 2014 valuation of $154 million to a 2015 valuation of $337.
- This may not affect DVC as much as there are fewer ancillary income streams associated with DVC.

Plus, property tax valuations really only affect the share of taxes paid by each property. If the affected taxing bodies don't reduce their spending, then they'll just raise their tax rates as needed (within cap restrictions where applicable). If a big reduction here is followed at other Disney resorts & property with a lot of ancillary income, this could actually result in an increase in tax rates (as total assessed value in the country reduces) and therefore an increase in taxes paid by the DVC resorts. So instead of slowing MF increases, this might actually increase them some.
