Default you guys see the 1000 VGF for resale?

Wow! $123K. Sparked conversation in my house. #1, why didn't they buy 4 250 pointers? #2, did they get some great deal when they bought...maybe a Disney employee? #3, if not a Disney employee, who bought that? #4, they will have to drop that price considerably, I'd think? #5, what if we could afford a big contract like that...at VGF no less. Oh, the daydreams.

$123 per point is discounted over current market for resale of about $140...

saying that, this will be a hard one to sell....just way to big for almost all people to buy. Guessing someone wanted a VGF GV for a week and bought the points to do so...

That is about $7K per year in MF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Yes, I wish I could afford it in a way. VGF is AWESOME

That's pretty awesome!

.....but also pretty dumb.

It's dumb for not having split the contract up. Anyone who is smart enough to afford it wasn't smart enough to have basic business sense?

My wife and I have become timeshare freaks who have bought and sold, traded and upgraded, and worked the systems of Marriott, Hilton HGVC, Hyatt, Diamond, Worldmark, and even DVC to get the time we want, where we want it.

Consistently, one thing is true across all our timeshare plays.

DVC rents for the most, but is also the most 'overpriced' for what you get. DVC trades the worst (out), but it's one of the best values to trade (in) via our cheap traders. At our peak, we owned close to 1000 DVC points and have sold down to 475 points split between VGC and SSR. What made this easy is NOT having one big contract of 1000 points and having the flexibility and willpower to learn the timeshare industry to get incredible trades at bargain basement prices.

In other words...it's one thing to say we COULD buy something, but it's quite another to say we SHOULD. If I wanted to drop 123k right now on continuing our timeshare game, I can think of MANY better ways to play than a 1000 point VGF contract. That's just me!

I thought $123 was high due to there being also a 200 and 500 VFG at around the same price...same UY and same broker, Fidelity. I have not followed VGF before. But you'd think a 1000 pointer would be listed way below a 200 pointer. Came across when looking up my June UY.

There's been one VGF on resale for 1313 points (been up at least 3 months now), which is the largest I've ever seen.

I have two thoughts about why the contract ended up being this big - DVC Guide & inexperienced buyer. Unless the buyer knows that it is better to break the contract up, the DVC Guide most likely is not going to make the suggestion.

This happened to me on my first purchase. We bought DVC completely cold, blind and direct. My first contract was a 500 points SSR. Now I know better and I realize that I should have at least broke the contract up into two 250 point contacts because I could have left one to each child (2 children that existed when we bought). My DVC Guide should have at least made this suggestion for me, and he didn't. Why? I don't know, laziness on his end IMO, he just wanted the sale, once I bought the contract the issue was mine to deal with.

No, I don't think this was a Disney employee -- they would know better than to buy a 1000 point contact. I've saw a couple of OKW 1000 point contracts in the past, but you don't see to many contracts this big.

A couple of years ago Disney did offer additional points for "free" for the life of the contract depending on how many points you purchased. I don't know if they did this with VGF, but I remember they did it with Aulani.

There are people with money out there. Maybe they financed it and are finding the dues too expensive to maintain - who knows? You could speculate until the cows come home on this one.

They may have to drop the price. It could get taken in ROFR, that might be a nice one for Disney to buy back. But, again there are people with money out there in the world. The two 1000 point OKW contracts sat around a while, but they did eventually sell. I think this contract will sell too.

1000 points at the VGF would be great for those that love that resort -- dreaming right along with you If it wasn't so hard to sell DVC contracts, I'd do some trading, but really I think I want BLT.

Where do the dues at VGF fall compared to others? I don't remember.

Someone needs to make a real lowball offer and let Disney exercise ROFR and then turn around and sell those points back to those of us that want them in smaller increments.

I would take another 25.
