Default Capital One Venture - TSA Precheck/Global Entry

I wasn't sure where to put this post, but since it pertains to air travel, I thought this might be a good place for it.

Email from Cap One:

Quote:
Introducing the newest benefit of your Venture® card—another way you can save time and money when you travel.

Apply for Global Entry or TSA Pre® and we’ll reimburse your fee.

Just pay the application fee with your Venture card and you’ll receive a statement credit of $100 for Global Entry or $85 for TSA Pre®. You’ll be eligible for another credit in 4 years, which is perfect because these programs require you to reapply every 5 years. Not sure which program is best for you? Learn more about Global Entry and TSA Pre✔®.

With this new premium benefit, your Venture card now does even more to make traveling easier—so you can skip the long lines and be on your way.
Unfortunately, I got my TSA Pre last September and it doesn't apply to applications prior to June 12, 2018, but I think it's a great benefit to cardholders, especially since this is touted as a card with great travel benefits.

Yep, I saw this recently too. Like you, I am already a TSA Pre holder, but when it comes up for renewal I plan to use my Capital One card. TSA Pre is a real time-saver, especially flying out of MCO.

If you live near an airport that can do Global Entry interviews and think you might travel internationally I recommend going ahead and getting that.

That being said, unless the whole family has global entry it won't help on international trips since everyone (even those under 18) needs to be able to check in via the kiosk.

I was excited when I saw this post but then tried to look at my card benefits. it seems this is only applicable for the capital one venture card with the annual fee. I unfortunately have the capital one venture one with no annual fee. this might cause me to upgrade my card though.

I don't know the perks of the venture one vs. venture, but I have always been very happy with my 2% cash back on everything. I love the purchase eraser feature!

Just finished my Global Entry app! Literally 30 seconds after you pay for the application you get an email from Capital One about the credit you'll get on your account!

(Granted, my chiming in has nothing to do with the Capital One card ... only of the application process.)

For those living close to the Canadian border, Nexus is a better deal than TSA precheck or Global Entry. It is only $50, and includes free GE and TSA-PC.

Getting into Canada at popular border xings can be incredibly long... sometimes hours. I-5 on the west coast is one such border. I’ve never had more than a couple of cars ahead of me in the Nexus line.

There is also a program for Mexico... I think Sentri or something like that. I do not know anything about it.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've been on the fence about Precheck for a while now, I guess this is a good reason to go for it.
