We have uncovered some exciting new information here at MO! Disney is hard at work trying to get the Treehouse Villas replaced, and has received tentative approval for this process, since the proposed changes are "in compliance with the original surface water management Permit." (Read the Permit HERE.)

But now for the meaty stuff. Just what is Disney planning? How about all of this:

And wait, there's more.....

So... 60 brand, spanking new Treehouse Villas. Kinda cool, huh???

WOW I never relised there were that many of them back there.

That would be cool for a relaxing stay.

somone on another board say that they were closed because they are not handicapped accessible.

those new plans don't look handicapped accessible.

it looks like they are just updating the units?

doombuggysdad is an architect, so I asked for a translation:

Well, I have NO idea what these Treehouses are (assume they're single-family hotel-type units meant to mimique living at treetops level on the savanah...) What they're showing on the drawings is that they'll replace EACH little "hut" with a slightly LARGER unit, but the new units will be supported above the ground on a smaller (circular) support column of approx. 80 square feet (like an umbrella stalk...) instead of the existing/original full floor plan at the ground level. Therefore LESS support square footage will be resting on the ground, in the flood plain.
Hope this clarifies it for you.

I have never stayed there, but I can sure remember when we used to stay at the Vacation Villas and the bus route would take us thru the Treehouse Villas, and I always thought I would like to stay there.

How many people do they sleep? I thought I remembered that there was a bedroom downstairs as well as upstairs.

From the plans it looks like there won't be anything downstairs anymore.
But I think they were three bedroom units- one down and two upstairs.
