Default What is the Worst that Disney can do to DVC?

I would like to start two threads about the future of DVC. This one could be an ongoing discussion about, "What can Disney Do to DVC?" I know that it would seem that it is in Disney's best interest to make sure DVC is strong and healthy, BUT, as we have seen, if Disney decides it is in their best financial interest to cut DVC members off at the knees, then they will do it. Without a second thought. So, what do we need to be ready for?

I do not want to deal in negatives. This is all speculation and even 'unpleasant' changes might not be negative. But I do want to deal with real possibilities, whether they seem reasonable at this time or not.

What is the absolute worst that Disney could do to us as DVC MEMBERS. I also don't want to just focus on how bad it could get, but rather on how much protection we have, based on laws and contracts, and how much we can depend on benefits that we can continue to get.

For instance, is it possible that Disney could deny DVC members the right to make ANY exchanges into other DVC resorts? I'm not talking about Riviera owners. Riviera owners will clearly have their own rules. But could they shut us all out from the rest of the resorts?

IF I was limited to just staying at the resorts that I own, I would STILL be happy, though I would be less happy. But forewarned is forearmed. So is that a reasonable expectation?

What about additional fees they could charge, to make reservations or change reservations or to exchange into another DVC resort?

What about limiting or cutting off Rentals?

How could they limit resales?

What other things could they do? Is anyone curious?

Thanks.

Not to be paranoid or anything but Id rather not come up with ideas that could be used against us.

If you read your documentation you can see what you are guaranteed.

Everything else is a bonus. Technically they could, at any time, withdraw all the bonus stuff.

Yes.....Disney could eliminate BVTC, but they will not.

I would see cutting off rentals as a plus, frankly. But, I understand how it fills up rooms so wouldn’t happen.

Closing the member only access to ToWL would be awful!

I am sad about agreeing.

My agreement speaks to my loss of faith in DVC administration.

WDW has been a place full of happy family memories and simply fun experiences for us.

We have always overspent for Disney trips. Drinking the kool-aid made us open our wallet without much complaint.

Now I feel that Disney expects to reach into our wallet and take what it wants whether we agree or not.
