Default Why Thursdays?

I always seem to have to waitlist for Thursdays for some reason. I understand most trips are Sun-Thurs due to lower points so I would think Thursdays would have more openings being the popular check-out day.

Looking a monthly availabilities on the RAT across the resorts you can find many openings, until you come to Thursdays, and this is the most common day that is not available.

Anyone know the reason?

Having kids in school we are typically a Wednesday/Thirsday-Sunday family. Maybe Thursday is hump day. Mon-Friday for point savers. Thursday-Sunday for families like ours?

We also do lots of long-weekend trips and almost always arrive on Thursday. I always assumed the same thing that Fmer55 suggests.

We've started more Thursday arrivals and staying thru the following Friday - so we take up 2 Thursdays.

Sorry!

Long weekends will have a Thursday start for us too.

Hmmm...maybe this is the current trend. This is how we travel also, Thursday to the following Friday.

Based on your reasoning in the first post, people would tend to stay Thursday night (weekday points) and check out Friday morning.

In an effort to conserve points, we usually plan 5 day trips, arrive Sunday, leave Friday morning.

Everybody wants Thursday. We have also noticed that it is frequently booked.

We almost always arrive on Thursday and stay thru the following Saturday for our yearly "big trip", so we also use up 2 Thursdays for those.

This year our "small trip" (just husband and I) is starting on Wednesday and staying thru Sunday, so the typical long weekend which also uses a Thursday.

Yep, you have those that don't want to pay higher points and stay Sun-Thursday and then you have those that want to come in for a long weekend and arrive on Thursday night to get a head start on their stay.

I have encountered the same situation at times, finding Thursday to be the only night out of a whole week that is not available.
