I type way fast just just like I talk! I have typos all the time! I get embarrassed when I go back and read my post sometimes because I did not have time to proof read. If we start correcting each others writing I am soooo out of here!! Ha! No seriously I do need to figure out why I do things like write "are" for "our" and "their" for "there", things like that sometimes when typing fast. I never do that when writing on paper!

Getting back on subject, even taking free dining (one n) into account DVC still works out better value in the long term. What you have to remember is the rooms available in the UK brochures are standard hotel rooms and not usually DVC size or standard of accomodation so it's difficult to compare. Also dining plan is not the cheap option people think it is, by the time you add on the gratuities and any drinks or extras it can be quite pricey. Next time we go we are going to eat off site to try and keep the food costs down.

As for Disneyland Paris - it is freakishly expensive, both to stay and while you are there. You can get two weeks in Florida for the price of 4 days in DP

So, I looked at this as well. I can get a 2BD at OKW from Nov 1-14, tickets for 5 adults, 2 kids, dining plan (not quick service) for $6675, normally i would pay around $6600 just for the room and tickets (using undercover tourist) so basically we're getting dining for free. So, can a person in the US book this via the UK site? I know that undercover tourist allows this. Has this been done before?

I really am not trying to open this can of worms. Really, I'm not.

I think the OP was trying to figure out why, or maybe just pointing out that, Disney offers free dining on an annual, or now, semi-annual, basis to non-DVC guests but DVC owners get no such love. We've made a significant investment with them, yet many would argue that we are not treated as "nicely" as regular guests. [Please note - I am not saying anything negative about the current member benefits/discounts!!]

Ok, I need to stop at that or else we'll be here all week.

Only if they have friends from the UK.

The UK offer has been offered for a few years now.
Drastically discounted room rate, usu. SSR and QKW are pushed.
14 day ticket for price of 7 days.
Free dining.

So triple/quad stacking happens, just not here.
We can't even double stack.

And every so often 200 pounds to put toward airfare. Yes, it's costly to fly but is pretty expensive to fly from Washington State and many other US locals.
If I lived in the UK, I wouldn't have bought into DVC, those sweet deals are just too good.

disney must think we are stupid or am i missing the point
DW and I do a lot of pricelining, deal shopping, grouponing, couponing and every other fake action verb you can think of to be able to travel, consume entertainment, and enjoy life without going into the poor house. We joined DVC (among many other reasons) in order to get much of the same benefit without all of the extra effort and restrictions.

While I'm sure I could work a lot harder and not have as much say in my vacations and get a comparable, or occasionally better, deal, I would rather take the certainty, flexibility, and efficiency of the DVC experience.

aarrgghhh, my ears are burning

I put my hand up, I'm from the UK and travelling on one of these rates this year - in just under 3 weeks yippee!

There are 5 of us staying in a SSR 2 bedroom - 14 nights, free dining plan (not QSDP) 14 day park hopping tickets. The price was £900pp (£4500 total, or $6750)
We would normally stay in POR, getting 2 or 3 rooms, but this worked out about the same price, and we're looking forward to the villa ameneties

Price does not include airfare (that was an additional £900pp)

I don't believe the free dining will last forever, but we'll be using it when available.

Also as a previous poster said, I think these deals are offered to UK visitors as we usually stay a minimim of two weeks, and as we have converted our cash, we tend to spend it all.
Our group will spend a minimum of $10,000 this trip (yes, you would think we have enough Disney tea towels by now, but we cant resist )
My aunt is also just recently back from WDW. She was originally going to stay in a chain hotel on I-drive, but when we priced it up, it was roughly the same price for her to stay in POR (with the added bonus of QSDP)

That's another reason to offer the free dining to UK visitors - if you are already paying £1800 to come over, you'll stretch the couple of hundred extra $$'s to stay on site if you're getting the dining plan 'free'

Well, that's me off to pack my suitcase now - not quite at the 'single digit dance' stage yet, but close enough for me!

Yup. Diz does that so narry a guest leaves the confines of the Mouse Compound.
You'll never escape with a penny or tuppence in their pocket.
Hmmmmm, probably time to place a call to my Coatbridge relatives.

We have UK residents that call the US disney site to book (usually for value resorts offering free dining, and yes UK residents do spell this the same) so can't see why you can't book from the UK site?
