That's good. GF needs that badly. For the flagship resort, it has bad pools.

I do like the Grand Floridian my wife and I have only stayed there once but we both have fond memories of the resort. With that said I don't have any desire to own points there. I don't even think I would use my points to stay there if the point cost per night is too high. I'd rather stay longer somewhere else. We enjoy visiting the GF while we are in the world but I don't see myself staying there again. I don't think its worth it compared to the other resorts.

I read through the other posts and I saw a few people comment that they would like to see rooms the size of OKW. I think you can forget about that in ANY future DVC resort. OKW was the first. Every DVC resort built since has followed pretty much the same (smaller) floor plan. I can't see them giving away any extra square footage. OKW if built today would be just like all the rest, they learned their lesson.

Here's link to a touringplans.com article about the new water play area being added to the existing pool.

I have no doubt it will be beautiful.
I have no doubt it will take a lot of points.

I see no reason to buy however.
If I wanted what GF has to offer I would rather stay as a hotel guest.

We are looking at adding on, We like the location because of the Resurants that are around the GF and the Polly. Breakfast at the Kona cafe, Ohana and lunch at Gasparilla we really love the Ruben hotdogs, we like all the restaurants at GF. We are expecting our first child and having easy access to the Monorail. I also think we will need the 11 month booking window since the size of the DVC at GF will make GF one of the smaller resorts and I am thinking much harded to book a room at the 7 month window. I am also thinking of future vacations where when the kids (planning on more than one) are in school and have to plan accordingly, I would like to know what if others have any problems with booking when kids have Vaction like SpringBreak and Christmas break. We also love GF near Christmas time and we always get a GingerBread house to bring home with us.

I forgot to add Pineapple ice cream at the Polly.

IMO buy re-sale at BLT. Basically all your wants will be 'accomplished' with the exception of actually staying at GF but ... not everyone's into the GF, which might make the 7-month window work, and the experience there as DVC vs guest might not be the same. Just sayin'

I was looking at the resort activities guides on a recent trip and I was shocked at the lack of childrens activities at the GF. There were so few activities that the guide was only a one-sided page. There were more at every other resort, even the values. I wondered if this was to discourage people with children from booking there. If so, DVC is going to be quite a cultural paradigm shift.

You can see the activity guide at:

I just booked a studio at SSR for Dec 21, 22, and 23 last week. So that's about 3 months out.

It's not our first choice to stay at, and next year we'll plan ahead a little better and get our Wilderness Lodge at 11 months (and do a 1 bedroom), but hey, we'll be in Disney right before Christmas. We never have a problem at 11 months.
