Default dining for half the stay/split dining

question...can I book disney dining for part of my trip this year? I am staying in the same room but have two different reservation numbers. When i initialy booked they said yes, then I called again and it was no, then I called again to ask about something else (we have friends traveling with us and wanted to make sure their room was close to ours) and when I asked about dining for part of the stay I was told yes (i should have booked it then). anyone have any insight

The next time they tell you yes, book it right away and make sure they charge you correctly.

The technical answer according to current MS policy is that you have to be booked in different resorts or different booking categories if at the same resort. In other words, you would be changing rooms. No matter how many reservations you have, a continuous stay in the same room is considered one reservation for dining plan purposes.

I think the CMs who told you yes were misinformed and had they tried to book for only one of the reservations, the system would not have allowed it. But if they tell you yes again, give it a try.

On your other thread I didnt realize you had a split stay. You can definitely only get the DDp for part of your stay. I will tell you what we do. If we are only going to be at a resort for one day or two our best bet is the Deluxe Dining Plan. It comes with both appetizer and dessert and has two snacks per day and three sit down meals per day. I could never use that many sit downs, however if we are only staying for one night (like we are this time) we would buy lunch and dinner on one day and lunch the next or dinner on day 1 and lunch and dinner on the next depending on what time you will get there.

For 2 nights we had lunch and dinner on each of three days. (We find breakfast to be not worth the money) If you can split your stay this is definitely the best bang for your buck, this is if your smaller stay is at the beginning or in the middle of your reservation.

PBM, were you able to book it?

I have one night at OKW in Sept booked with one membership number, and then the next 3 nights with a different number. MS rep I talked to today made it sound like I could book it for that one day, and I have been checking restaurant availability tonight before I add it. I look forward to hearing what you were able to do...

Thanks!

Actually I've read that the most cost effective use for the Deluxe dining Plan is one early lunch then one 2-credit signature restaurant for a late supper. Doing it like that you can avoid being stuffed all day, easily recoup the cost of the plan and since you don't like breakfast that method would be perfect for you.

Yes you could do it that way, and I know many people like it that way. I prefer three meals instead of two. but I use them on both days instead of one. I get two lunches and one dinner or two dinners and one lunch depending on my stay.

Just following up to say I just booked the Deluxe plan for just that one night. I will say that the only member number I gave the MS rep was the one with the one night reservation. I made no mention of the fact that I have a linked reservation for the following 3 nights at the same resort/room category.
